Concerts for Seniors

In 2004, the International Dvořák Society concluded an agreement with the congregation of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethern in Prague 2 (http://vinohrady.evangnet.cz) concerning a regular presentation of concerts and lectures in the beautiful church at Korunní Stret no. 60. Because of its first-class acoustics, the chapel is used as a CD recording studio. It is heated throughout the year and seats 400 people. For pianists, there is a grand piano Bohemia.

The regular afternoon concerts take place at 2:30 p.m. each first Tuesday of the month, from October to June.

There are also occasional evening concerts, often combined with lectures.

The first evening concert with a lecture took place on October 18, 2004, featuring the piano duo Radomír and Helena Melmuka a Dr. Svatopluk Antoš.

The first afternoon concert was held on February 16, 2005, featuring the pianist Radoslav Kvapil.

By December 2009, 54 concerts and concerts combined with lectures had been held.

The cycle is being supported financially by the municipality of Prague 2, by the city of Prague and by the Czech Musical Foundation (Český hudební fond).
