US Piano Tour of Radoslav Kvapil



In the fall of 2008, Radoslav Kvapil undertook a piano tour of the United States, which began on October 20 and ended on November 15. During the tour Mr. Kvapil presented 11 concerts and led 6 master courses. The trip began in the state of Maryland and continued to Washington, D.C., Iowa, Minnesota, Texas, Indiana, and Michigan.

The highlight was the recital at Kennedy Center in Washington on October 28, 2008, on the occasion of Czech national holiday commemorating the 90th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia.

The main American organizers of the tour were:

Dr. Joan DeVee Dixon, an organist and professor at Frostburg University in Maryland, who participated in the American Spring Festival in the last two years, presenting 13 concerts in 2008 and 18 concerts in 2009.

Czech Heritage Partnership from Spillville, Iowa, a non-profit organization promoting Czech-American cultural cooperation.

College of Music at the University of North Texas, the largest musical faculty in the United States.

The American Pianists Association, the major professional association in this field.
